Customer Portal V2 Plus (CPv2 Plus) is a bundle of new features built around one goal: giving every lab the ability to tailor the QBench and Customer Portal experience for each of their clients. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about the two features included in this release.
Field Screens
What It Does
Field Screens give your lab full control over which fields appear (and in what order) for each customer, in both QBench and the Customer Portal. Instead of every customer seeing the same global field layout, you can create named screen configurations and assign specific customers to each one.
This means a client that tracks only a handful of fields gets a clean, simple view, while a high-complexity client sees everything they need — all without any custom development.
Why It Matters
Before Field Screens, labs had to rely on manual workarounds to present different field layouts to different clients. Field Screens make this self-service and permanent, reducing operational overhead and improving the experience for everyone.
Key Capabilities
Create named Field Screens and assign them to individual customers or groups of customers
Control field visibility and order across four entity types:
Orders - all Order pages across LIMS and Customer Portal
Samples - Sample Detail pages and Sample sections within Orders
Tests - Test Detail pages and Test section within Orders
Sources - the Source creation form on the Order Detail page, Order Detail page, and Order Request in the Customer Portal
Required fields are always shown and cannot be hidden, ensuring data integrity
New custom fields you add later are automatically included in existing screens (hidden by default, so your views stay clean)
Customers in the portal see only the fields assigned to their screen when submitting and reviewing orders
Duplicate or remove Field Screens at any time from the Field Screens edit page
Note: Field Screens are not compatible with Divisions. If your lab uses Divisions, please contact your Customer Success Manager before enabling this feature.
Getting Started
Where to configure: Configuration → Application → Fields and Data Types → Field Screens
Applies to: Orders, Samples, Tests, and Sources
Who can configure: QBench admins with access to Fields & Data Types
To get started, navigate to Field Screens in your admin settings, create a new screen, select the fields you want visible, and assign the relevant customers. Changes take effect immediately.
Customer-Specific Assays
What It Does
Customer-Specific Assays let you control which assays and panels each customer sees when placing orders through the Customer Portal. Rather than displaying your entire assay catalog to every client, you can configure a tailored list per customer — showing only the tests they are contracted or approved to order.
Why It Matters
A portal flooded with irrelevant assays creates confusion and increases the chance of customers selecting tests they shouldn’t. Customer-Specific Assays solve this by presenting each client with a clean, relevant catalog — reducing ordering errors, protecting proprietary test offerings, and speeding up the submission process.
Key Capabilities
Assign specific assays and panels to each customer from the Customer Detail page; those are the only options they’ll see in the portal
Works seamlessly with the Billing module:
If billing is enabled, assay/panel access inherits from your existing customer ↔ assay billing relationships automatically
Sub-customers inherit their parent customer’s assay and panel access when sub-customer billing inheritance is enabled
The Assay Catalog remains available for sub-customers even when their billing subscription is inactive, as long as inheritance is turned on
(Coming Soon) Bulk import support for assay and panel assignments, so you can set up multiple customers at once without manual data entry
Getting Started
Where to configure: QBench → Partners → Customer Detail → Assay Catalog tab
Applies to: Customer Portal assay and panel ordering catalog
Billing compatibility: Leverages your existing billing assay relationships
Configure assay and panel access for each customer from the Assays/Panels tab on their Customer Detail page in QBench. The Customer Portal will automatically reflect your selections.
